A Leader
|
Today's daily dose sent to all members was:
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.
John Quincy Adams
Having said that the most prevalent leaders are mothers; whether they want to be or not. I don't think anyone helps or has more of an opportunity to help others dream, learn, and become more than a mother does. Thank you to all those mothers who are teaching their children goodness in all its forms. Good luck and remember you are being watched in what you do and say by tomorrows leaders.

Compromise
|
After going through the prosses of naming another child I would be VERY interested to see how many people receive their name as a compromise between two parents. Many times one parent likes one name and the other likes another and eventually they both "agree" to name the child something that was neither of the parents first choice.
Sometimes compromises are good things and other times they are bad, it's up to you to decide when they are good and when they are bad.

Hope
|
| Christmas time is a great opportunity for joy and happiness. Often times the magic of hope comes to life at this time of year. I think everyone could easily come up with a hope for the holidays. Something they want to happen. So todays challenge is to find out somebody else's hope for the holiday and see if you can make it come true. Good Luck.

Gift Wrap
|
| Is gift wrap to make a gift even better? Is gift wrap to make it so the person receiving the gift doesn't see the gift until the right day? Is gift wrap always necessary? Does gift wrap take away from the real gift inside?

A Game of "Did you know" ROUND II

Recycling paper uses 60% less energy than manufacturing paper from virgin timber.
Recycling 1 glass jar saves enough energy to light a 100w light bulb for 4 hours.

A Little "Did you know"

7500 trees are used for the Sunday edition of the New York Times each week.
Recycling aluminum uses 96% less energy than it takes to produce the same amount of aluminum from raw materials.

Steer Clear
|
I hope we steer clear of the problems that result from the following list by Ezra Taft Benson:
Politics without principle
Pleasure without conscience
Knowledge without effort
Wealth without work
Business without morality
Science without humanity
Worship without sacrifice
I think you could pick one weeks worth of news from any week in the last year and find many if not all of the above mentioned problems. Keeping this in mind we must actively pursue the teaching of todays youth to steer clear of these grave pitfalls.

BIG
|
| A big house can be fun unless you have to clean it. A big lot or piece of land can be fun unless you have to pay the taxes on it. A big business can be fun unless you need to change directions quickly.

For Sure?
|
The majority of life's choices need to be made before you know for sure. Often times waiting until you know for sure changes your options and sometimes eliminates the opportunity all together. We learn most in this life when times are hard, when we don't have all the answers, and when it takes us more than one try to get the job done. So the next time you feel like you are about to give up because the previous attempts have failed, you are not sure you have all the answers of what needs to be done to succeed and it seems to be getting harder - remember you are in a prime environment to receive great knowledge which can help you a little further down life's path. Good luck, hang in there, and make it a good day.

Microwave or Conventional Oven
|
One usually produces a better result, but it takes longer.
One usually produces a worse result, but it doesn't take very long.
Sometimes in life you need a conventional oven.
Sometimes in life you need a microwave oven.
It's up to you to decide when you should use each of them.

Do You Understand It
|
Life is full of times when we are introduced to things that we do not understand. When we are young we use it to learn. We are excited to find things we do not understand. It seems the older we get the easier it is to try and avoid things we do not understand. Somehow along the way it became uncool to not understand things and instead of seeing them as an opportunity to learn something we often hide from them. Maybe it stems from times when we didn't know something and others made fun of us. Maybe it stems from the effort that is required or the time that is required to learn something new. Whatever it is your invitation for today is to come to understand something you did not understand before. Don't shy away from it; draw closer to it and use it to grow (in goodness that is.)

Energy
|
| It takes energy to move yourself, to power things, to grow things, to fix things, to read things, to eat things and to do many more things. You use energy, save energy, and move energy. Let's use it on important things, save it when it's not needed, and move it into the most productive areas.

Hot and Cold
|
When we are hot we would like to be cold and when we are cold we would like to be hot. We often forget there is a nice balance between the two and swing from one side to the other. If this only happened with tempature we would be fine but it happens in a number of other areas in our lives. Sometimes when we get that urge to start moving one way or the other we forget when to stop. Keeping a good eye on the overall picture can help to find the balance. A good way to do that is to ask if what you are about to do will matter in a year.
