Givethanksing
On this Thanksgiving mix it up a little bit.  Do something different.  Start a new tradition.  We would love to hear from you on how it goes!

The Way I See It
This is a very interesting phrase as the majority of things anyone talks about could be prefaced with it.  We each talk, compare, judge, and act on "the way we see it."  In most cases perception is reality.  Life is full of opportunities to try to get along with others when you don't see eye to eye.  From toddlers bickering over a toy to elderly people debating with their children on turning in their drivers license - you will have plenty of time to work it out when the way you see it doesn't seem to be the same as somebody else sees it.

Your Happiness

Your greatest happiness will not come unless you are putting forth your best effort.

What does it cost?

Everything has a cost.  That cost may be measured in money, or time, or effort but everything has a cost.  If money runs low it is time to start bartering.  It's a great way to get what you need without money.

What Matters
Times like these make it easier to see what really matters.  Times like these make it easier to determine what we need and what we want.  Times like these aren't always the easiest but they provide great opportunities for charity, compassion, service, and friendship - all things that matter.

Ups and Downs

The stock market, the economy, jobs, life - they all have ups and downs.  I'm not wanting to go into why right now - just that we need to be there for each other and especially on the downs.

People
People are what make life so fun, interesting, and worthwhile.  How often do you have the chance to meet new people?  How often do you take that opportunity?

Ready or Not

"Ready or not here I come."   The things in life that happen that we are not prepared for do not care how far we had come, or how close we are to being ready.  As the saying goes they are coming one way or the other, ready or not.

Another saying also helps out here, "If ye are prepared ye shall not fear."  Fear often comes from not being in control of something.  Always planning for the worst however, can bring a negative or fearful attitude with it.  Boiled down plan for what you can, live for everything.

Well Now You Know...

It seems we gain a lot of knowledge through trial and error and experience.  Often we learn through not being prepared and by moving into the unknown.  Many experiences leave us with the saying "Well now you know."  The real key is remembering what you learned not only for the next time you head into a similiar experience but also teach those who you lead.

Each Day
It seems like many days run together and unless something big happens they are quickly forgotten.  It's easy to get stuck doing the same thing day after day.  It almost seems like we forget we have control of so many things in our lives.  A little effort in making each day matter makes a life complete.

What...

What would we lose if nobody ever said anything negative about anyone else.

What would we gain if we saw the good in everyone else.

What would we lose if we spent less time worrying about our wants

What would we gain if we spent more time worrying about others' needs.

What will you gain by the end of your life?

What will you lose by the end of your life?

What lies within your power to change?

What Language Do You Speak

The more you can understand people the greater your potential to gain knowledge.  If you only speak one language you are limited to the conversations you can have.  If you have ever visited another country and tried to speak to someone who speaks a different language you can understand the difficulty in trying to have a productive conversation.  And contrary to popular action talking louder does not make it any easier to understand one another.

Never Settle ....Even If You Do

Looking back on the best things that have happened to me in life I can honestly say that if I would have settled for one of the many choices that came along that were ok but not great I would not be happy.  Every once in awhile you may have to settle for a short time on something but never stop reaching for your goals.  One example may be employment.  You may have to settle for a job you don't enjoy to get by but don't stop looking for the job you deserve.  Which brings us to todays title ... don't settle, but if you do never forget that because you once settled doesn't mean you have to stay there.

Vote
It doesn't take long, it will soon be over, and you get to be a part of something that many people in the world do not have the opportunity to do.  So get out and vote.

To Deter

I think we often deter ourselves from doing the things that we know we should or the things we know would be the best.  It's easy to pick a good thing or even a better thing and leave behind the best thing.  It's easy to rationalize and tell ourselves "Well, after all I didn't make a bad choice," when truth be told if we didn't choose the best thing we made a bad choice.  It's easy to rationalize and tell ourselves "Well, after all I was busy," when truth be told we were simply distracted.

There are enough things in the world to prevent us from acting on good things we do not need to add any more.
